Thirty-four alleged members of the Mara Salvatrucha appeared this Wednesday, July 8, before the Eighth Criminal Court, accused of different criminal acts, after having been captured in September 2025 during the Rescatando El Gallito operations.

The Public Ministry (MP) began the presentation of the investigation against the defendants, who are linked to the crimes of illicit association, extortion, conspiracy to commit murder and armed attacks.

According to the authorities, the operations took place in the El Gallito neighborhood, zone 3 of the capital, a sector that is disputed by two criminal groups that seek to control the territory for the retail sale of drugs.

According to the MP’s investigation, the women captured in the case would have received bank deposits from the collection of extortions.

During this Wednesday’s proceedings, details of the investigation were revealed and it is expected that the Eighth Criminal Court will resolve the legal situation of each of the defendants.
