Guatemala extradites two prisoners to the US for allegations of sexual assault and rape

The Elite Force of the Penitentiary System reported this Thursday, July 16, that it carried out the transfer of two prisoners required by the United States justice system for alleged sexual abuse.

He added that they are Inmer Misael Barrios Osorio, wanted for the crime of sexual assault, and Alejandro de Jesús Hernández Godínez, wanted for the crime of rape of a minor.

He stated that both were transferred to the Protocol Room of the La Aurora International Airport, where they were handed over to the US authorities to comply with their extradition process.

According to information from the Ministry of the Interior (Mingob), Barrios Osorio was captured in February during an operation carried out in zone 7 of Quetzaltenango.

“Barrios Osorio will face US justice on charges of sexual assault or attempted sexual assault with injuries against a person under 12 years of age, by a person 18 years of age or older,” Mingob stated on that occasion.

The Mingob also reported in February on the capture of Hernández Godínez in zone 1 of the capital.

The Mingob indicated on that occasion that the detainee is wanted by the United States justice system for alleged sexual crimes against a minor under 16 years of age.
