The Departmental Municipal Firefighters shared details of the traffic accident of a patrol car of the National Civil Police (PNC), recorded this Thursday, July 16 at the entrance to Santa María Visitación, Sololá. They also reported other road mishaps.
They added that, in that place, the patrol car, with the initials SAC-119, overturned and fell into a ravine.
After the alert, lifeguards from the Santa María Visitación station, aboard the RD-14 unit, provided pre-hospital care to four PNC agents and transferred them to the local Permanent Care Center.
The uniformed men suffered injuries to different parts of their bodies. Four others were treated at the scene.
Firefighters reported a deceased agent, so they notified the corresponding authorities.
The patrol car was severely damaged and it is still unknown what caused the accident.
Other mishaps
The Volunteer Firefighters reported that this Thursday a vehicle lost control and hit a house at kilometer 110.5 of the Inter-American Highway, in Chupol, Chichicastenango, Quiché. First responders treated two injured people, who were stabilized and transferred to the Tecpán Guatemala Hospital, Chimaltenango.
Provial reported that, at kilometer 29 of the route to the Atlantic, in Palencia, a heavy transport vehicle had an accident and the material it was transporting was scattered on the asphalt.
No injuries have been reported and the right lane, heading north, remains blocked.
The Departmental Municipal Firefighters also reported a motorcyclist who died in an accident at kilometer 136.5 of the Inter-American route. The victim was left on one of the lanes, next to the motorcycle, which suffered severe damage.
The Municipal Traffic Police reported an accident on Landívar Boulevard and 17 Avenue, zone 15. At that location, a truck collided with a power line pole.
He added that the driver was unharmed and the case was taken over by the PNC.
