Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer only in the videos that circulate on social networks, but also in large film and television productions. Netflix even revealed that it has used this technology not a few, but many times so far this year.
The platform of streaming reported that during 2026 it has used generative artificial intelligence in about 300 projects, especially in post-production.
After releasing its second quarter results, Netflix sent a letter to its investors explaining that the use of generative AI is “growing rapidly” among its creative partners throughout the entire production cycle, from the conception and pre-visualization of a project to post-production and delivery.
“We are increasingly turning to these tools because they allow us to obtain higher quality results, in less time and at a lower cost than traditional methods. In some cases, without generative AI it would have been impossible to include certain key shots and sequences,” he stressed.
The document highlights some cases, such as the productions Brazil 70: A Saga do Tri (Brazil 70: The saga of the three-time championship), glory (India) and The American Experiment (USA), who used this technology to create complex sequences, such as digital magnification of crowds, re-enactments of historical battles, and long shots to build the visual universe of the story.
Even on its website, Netflix highlights the “valuable help” that generative AI tools represent when used in a “transparent and responsible” way.
“To support productions on a global scale and stay aligned with best practices, we expect all of our production partners to inform their contact at Netflix of any planned uses of generative AI, especially as new tools continue to emerge with different capabilities and risks,” the platform added.
Millionaire profits
Netflix also reported that its net profit in the second quarter of 2026 was $3,401 million, compared to $5,283 million in the previous quarter.
According to the report, quarterly revenue amounted to $12.56 billion, representing a year-over-year growth of 13.4%.
Last March, Netflix acquired InterPositive, an artificial intelligence film production company founded by American actor, producer and director Ben Affleck.
“Great works can only come from the talent of great creators, and artificial intelligence does not change that reality. What it does do is give them better tools to make their ideas a reality. Movies are still made by people; AI simply helps them make them better,” said Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix.
