A person died this Saturday, July 18, while doing physical activity in the facilities of the Los Arcos Sports Clubfrom the University of San Carlos de Guatemala (Usac), reported the Volunteer Firefighters.
The Usac Sports Department reported, through a statement, that the incident occurred within the sports venue and expressed its condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased person.
“The Sports Department of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala informs the university community and the general public that this day an unfortunate incident occurred at the facilities of the Los Arcos Sports Club, where a person who was doing physical activity lost his life,” the letter states.
The Volunteer Firefighters confirmed that they attended the emergency and reported a deceased person inside the facilities.
“Preliminarily, it was reported that a possible cardiorespiratory arrest would have been the cause of death. However, the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) will be in charge of officially establishing the cause of death,” the lifeguards indicated.
The university said that the staff of the Los Arcos Sports Club provided the necessary support during the emergency response and collaborated with the Volunteer Firefighters of the 10th Company, zone 11, as well as with the competent authorities, in accordance with established protocols.
“The Department of Sports expresses its most sincere condolences and solidarity to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased person, wishing them strength and resignation at this difficult time,” the statement added.
“The Sports Department of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala reiterates its commitment to the well-being of those who use the sports facilities and expresses its respect for this unfortunate event,” he indicated.
