German striker Karim Adeyemi was officially presented this Thursday as a new FC player Barcelona, a club with which he signed a contract until June 30, 2031. During his first statements as a Barça player, the 24-year-old attacker expressed his admiration for Lionel Messi, whom he considers the best footballer of all time.
“For me, Messi is the best player who has ever existed. He was always Messi,” Adeyemi stated when remembering the historical figures of the Catalan team. In addition, he highlighted that he also enjoyed watching Ronaldinho and other great figures who marked an era in the institution play.
The German international described his arrival at Barcelona as one of the most important steps of his career and said he felt honored to be part of an entity that he considers the largest in world football.
“Now I can say that I play for the biggest club in the world. It is an honor for me and I want to show the team, the coach and all the fans that I am here to win and help the team”he pointed out.
Adeyemi revealed that coach Hansi Flick played a fundamental role in his decision to sign for the Blaugrana team. As he explained, the conversations with the German coach were positive from the first moment and gave him confidence in the sporting project.
“He is one of the reasons why I am here today. From the first second I trusted him and he clearly explained to me what this club needs, what the fans expect and what the team’s objectives are,” he commented.

Excitement to share a dressing room with Lamine Yamal
The new Barça reinforcement also spoke about the opportunity to share the attack with young talents such as Lamine Yamal, whom he defined as a differential footballer despite his young age.
Likewise, he acknowledged that one of his first challenges off the field of play will be to learn Spanish to quickly integrate into the locker room. “I think I’m good at languages and I’ll learn quickly. In the countryside, age doesn’t matter. Flick told me that this group is a family,” he stated.
Although he recognized that the European Champions League is one of Barcelona’s great aspirations, Adeyemi made it clear that the team’s objective will be to compete for all the titles of the season.
“The Champions League is something very big and we want to win it, but it is not the only thing. Every game is important for this club. In the end we want to win trophies and my goal is to give my best to try to win everything,” he said.
Willing to play wherever the team needs him
Regarding his role in Flick’s scheme, the attacker assured that he has no preferences regarding the position he occupies on the offensive front, since throughout his career he has played roles in different areas of the attack.
“For me the position doesn’t matter. I have played in all offensive positions and the important thing is to help the team, earn the trust of my teammates and achieve the objectives”he explained.
Adeyemi also confessed that initially it was difficult for him to believe Barcelona’s interest, especially because he considers that his last season was not the best on an individual level.
“If I’m honest, I couldn’t believe it. I know what I can do, but my last season wasn’t the best. That’s why I’m very grateful for this opportunity,” concluded the German striker, who begins a new stage with the mission of providing speed, imbalance and goals to the Catalan team.
