Chadwick Boseman left a legacy at Marvel after playing the warrior Black Panther. After his death, Marvel revealed that the franchise will continue with a third production, which will introduce a new prince T’Challa.
After Wakanda demonstrated that it can survive T’Challa’s legacy, Marvel noted that the story will continue in this nation, although this time with a new Black Panther.
The new character will arrive as T’Challa II and will be played by British actor David Jonsson, who will have the mission of protecting Wakanda and wearing the suit. Black Panther.
Kevin Feige and director Ryan Coogler announced during San Diego Comic-Con that the new film will hit theaters after Avengers: Secret Wars. In addition, they reported that the premiere is scheduled for December 15, 2028.
According to The Hollywood Reporterthis story could include a time jump and will introduce the new prince of Wakanda, who will be the son of T’Challa and Nakia. The heir to the throne will continue the legacy left by T’Challa.
Despite the announcement, Marvel did not reveal what the official title of the film will be, although it confirmed that David Jonsson will play Toussaint, a character that was presented in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022).
Ryan Coogler highlighted that, for this third installment, the heir to the throne will grow to maturity. During the presentation he stated: “I don’t want to say too much because I want to let the screen speak,” and expressed his desire for the story to reach the hearts of fans of the franchise.
The actor is already known in the film industry and has established himself as one of the emerging figures in Hollywood thanks to productions such as Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk.

Jonsson was born in London in 1993 and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). His career has developed between theater, television and cinema. He achieved recognition with the series Industry.
He later attracted public attention for his participation in Rye Lanealthough it was his portrayal of Andy in Alien: Romulus (2024) which earned him critical recognition. Thanks to that role, he won the Rising Star award at the BAFTA Awards and opened the door to new projects, including The Long Walk.
The Hollywood Reporter points out that David Jonsson could join the universe of avengers after Avengers: Secret Wars. Until now it is known that in Avengers: Doomsday Characters like Shuri and other inhabitants of Wakanda will appear.
