Guatemala continues to expand its medal haul at the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
The national delegation has 15 medals—two gold, four silver and nine bronze—and occupies seventh place in the general medal table until July 27.
Six disciplines have already contributed medals for the country. Badminton and taekwondo top the list with four medals each, although taekwondo accounts for the two gold medals obtained so far.
Guatemala medal table by sport
Badminton and taekwondo lead Guatemala’s medal haul with four medals each. They are followed by shots, with three; oar, with two; while judo and archery record one medal each.
Badminton shares the lead in the medal table
Badminton has four medals for Guatemala. The first came with the silver obtained by the mixed team, while Yeison del Cid won bronze in men’s singles, Diana Corleto won bronze in women’s doubles and Nikté Sotomayor obtained the same medal in women’s singles.
The discipline still has options to increase that number, since several national badminton players continue in competition.
Taekwondo contributes the two golds of Guatemala
Taekwondo also has four medals and is the discipline that has given the two titles to the Guatemalan delegation.
María Higueros won gold in women’s individual traditional poomsae. In addition, Guatemala won silver in mixed freestyle poomsae, while César Aguilar won bronze in traditional men’s individual poomsae and Nicolle Way won bronze in women’s kyorugui, -49 kilograms category.
Tiro brings three medals
In shooting, Guatemala won gold in the men’s clay pigeon team event. Added to this result are the silvers obtained by Sebastián Bermúdez Labbé in the men’s individual event and Emily Padilla Coronado in the women’s event.
Rowing adds two medals
Rowing provided two bronze medals. Dulce Samayoa and Nicolle González took the podium in the coxless women’s pair event (W2-), while Lesli González and Nicolle González obtained another medal in the women’s double sculls (W2x).
Judo and archery complete the harvest
José Ramos won bronze for Guatemala in the men’s -60 kilogram judo category.
For its part, the men’s composite archery team opened the national medal table with the bronze medal.
