Urban bus drivers paralyze work in Mixco due to the high price of fuel

The Municipality of Mixco reported that, due to the rise in fuel pricesbus pilots have paralyzed the service this Tuesday, July 28.

Mynor Espinoza, spokesperson for the commune, indicated that, according to the transporters, the strike is due to the fact that “they do not have a response from the central government” regarding the cost of fuel.

He indicated that the Exprés Mixco buses stopped working, so the units remain parked at some stations.

Espinoza said that these buses do not belong to the Mixco commune; However, according to him, the Municipality has taken steps to allow them to circulate within the perimeter of the municipality.

The mayor of Mixco, Neto Bran, asked transporters to resume operations, because in previous strikes he has seen how users have been affected and must pay more to use other means of transport.

He added that he will propose before the Council to leave the fare as it was before the first subsidy: Q5.

Espinoza expanded that the strike affects residents of zones 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 of Mixco.

He added that the businessmen are in an extraordinary meeting to determine if the strike continues this Tuesday afternoon.

He added that, according to estimates, up to 20 thousand users could be affected by the bus stoppage.
