According to the reports received by the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction, the earthquake was significant in Quiché, Santa Rosa, Quetzaltenango, Sololá, Escuintla, Retalhuleu, Guatemala, Totonicapán and Sacatepéquez.
Seismic activity has continued. At 2:35 a.m. this Thursday there was another earthquake that reached a magnitude of 4 and had its epicenter in the Pacific Ocean.
According to Insivumeh records, so far in 2026 there have been 4,737 earthquakes, of which 125 have been sensitive.
It should be remembered that among the sensitive tremors, the 7.4 magnitude one that shook Guatemala on the morning of Friday, July 17, stands out.
The Insivumeh has reported that, as a result of this earthquake, there have been more than 500 aftershocks as part of the sequence.
