What did Iran say about the alleged downing of three US F-35 fighters in Jordan?

This July 30, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) claimed to have shot down three US F-35 fighters during a recent attack on a base in Jordan.

Through a statement released by the Tasnim agency, the IRGC assured that its aerospace force attacked the fighters with ballistic missiles.

“The targets were the deployment platform and maintenance hangar of the American F-35 fighters at the Al Azraq air base,” the statement reported.

“As a result, three F-35 aircraft were completely destroyed and three others suffered considerable damage,” it added.

The letter adds that “the death of several enemy officers, technical and maintenance personnel” was also confirmed.

So far, neither Washington nor Amman have confirmed the attack or the deaths that Iranian authorities have reported.

In fact, US Central Command recently posted on social media that “no aircraft have been destroyed or damaged in recent attempted Iranian attacks.”

The IRGC stated that this attack responds to a United States offensive against two homes on the island of Qeshm, located in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main points of friction in the conflict between both countries.

Hours before this Thursday, the Jordanian Army announced that it had intercepted and shot down five missiles launched against its territory and accused Iran of the attack, when Tehran had not yet claimed any offensive.

This occurred after the United States Central Command (Centcom) completed a new wave of attacks against Iran and hit dozens of military targets, in response to an attempted missile launch against US troops deployed in the Middle East.
