The Metropolitan District Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry (MP) investigates a case of outrage to national symbols, for a satire that the creator of content Deanna Michelle Melillo Mancilla made with stanzas of the national anthem of Guatemala.

The MP confirmed that, in the prosecution’s records, there is a complaint against Melillo Mancilla, which was made electronically and it is for its allegedly having altered the letter of the National Anthem of Guatemala.

“The file is in charge of the Metropolitan District Attorney’s Office, for the alleged commission of the crime of outrage to national symbols,” said the MP.

The complaint is for a video shared on Tik Tok by the creator of Deanna Melillo content appears making a satire of the National Anthem of Guatemala, as part of a circus show to which she was invited.

Although the young woman said she was a joke, she did not fall in grace to some Internet users who shared comments such as: “The anthem of our homeland is respected”, “what barbarity”, “if it were Guatemalan, as she says, he would never have lacked the respect in that way to the anthem.”

The situation led to Melillo, along with his partner and also creator of content, Josy Esteban, publish a video on his social networks asking for forgiveness for lack of respect.

The Criminal Code in its article 416 says that “who publicly outrage, belittled, or vilipendie flag, emblem, national shield or hymn will be sanctioned with prison from six months to two years.
