The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) reported on Wednesday, June 4 that, at the national level, 10 cases of cutaneous myiasis per boreride of cattle in people have been registered and reiterated to the population that prevention measures must be reinforced.
According to the health portfolio, most patients are older adults, residents in Jalapa, Jutiapa, Chiquimula and Santa Rosa. These are five men and five women.
Patients come from rural and peri -urban communities from these departments.
“All patients are stable, alive and under specialized medical care,” says Health.
In a statement, health reiterates citizens that this disease is not contagious or transmitted between people.
“The boreride worm can only affect humans or animals when the adult fly deposits its eggs on an open and hygiene wound; therefore, the timely prevention and attention of injuries are key to avoiding infestation,” says Health.

It was reported that health and the Ministry of Agriculture coordinate actions to identify possible infestation spotlights and avoid new cases. In addition, the authorities ask to remain calm and inform themselves through official channels.
