The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) reported that this Thursday, June 5, derived from the Fire volcano activitythe vehicular passage in kilometers 83.5 and 85 of National Route 14 has been closed, both closures at the entrance to Altenango, Sacatepéquez.

He recommended that the pilots use the South CA-9 and the CA-1 100 as alternate routes.

The General Directorate of Road Protection and Safety reported that the passage is also closed at kilometer 98, in the village El Rodeo, Escuintla, and Alotenango.

The Municipality of Ciudad Vieja, Sacatepéquez, indicated that the traffic is complicated on the aforementioned route, so it suggested using the stretch of the alternate route between Palín and Escuintla.

The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh) reported that the Fire Volcano records ongoing effusive eruption.

He added that the activity has generated gase and ash columns, which reach 5,000 meters above sea level (16,404 feet) and move up to 30 km in the west direction.

In addition, pyroclastic flows have been recorded in the dry and ash ravines, so fine ash fall in the communities near these ravines, such as Panimaché I and II, Morelia and Yepocapa.
