The Judge of greatest risk A, Claudette Domínguez, decided to reform the crime of murder that weighed on Blanca Edelmira Saravia, former candidate to deputy of the Valor Party, and reduced it to her own cover -up.
Saravia, who was postulated by the department of Jutiapa in the general elections of 2023, is pointed out to have participated in the planning of the murder of her cousin, lawyer Sindy Jeannete Paz, which occurred on May 8, 2017 in the 2 capital zone, near a private university.
During the hearing, defense lawyer Jaime Hernández requested the modification of the crime and also raised the possibility of giving him house arrest. The Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) points out that Saravia and her husband would have coordinated the crime with members of a criminal structure dedicated to sicariato.
Judge’s arguments
Judge Domínguez explained that the evidence presented in the process is not enough to prove the authorship or direct complicity of Saravia in the murder. “I consider that the conduct is not adapted to the criminal type by which it was linked to criminal proceedings. It did not have the quality of author or accomplice; the quality that the prosecuted had today is that of cover -up, made perpetrated by other people,” said the judge.
With this resolution, Saravia will face positions for its own cover -up and the intermediate stage audience is expected to be scheduled soon.
Changes in the case of the case
Initially, the case was in charge of Judge Abelina Cruz Toscano. However, the First Risk Room accepted a challenge raised against him, so the process was transferred to the Court of greatest risk A, under the direction of Claudette Domínguez.
Another of those indicated in this case, Gerardo Alexander Paniagua, aka “El Gallero”, was linked to the murder process. According to the MP, it was he who would have executed Peace commissioned by his cousin Blanca Saravia. This resolution was issued by Judge Cruz Toscano before being separated from the case.
