The Plenary of Congress held two plenary sessions This Tuesday, June 17, but did not exhaust even half of the points contained in the work agendas planned for each of the plenaries.
The first session focused on interpellations, including the political trial against the Minister of Health, Joaquín Barnoyawho is questioned before the Plenary by Deputy Bequer Chocooj.
The political trial did not conclude. In the shared agenda other interpellations pending the ministers of Social Development, Communications and Environment were also contemplated.
The session was raised to give way to the second call, whose agenda was broader and contemplated the choice of public office, including the position of First Secretary of the Board of Directors.
That position was vacant after a resolution of the Constitutional Court that declared deputy Karina Paz independent, who integrated the will, opportunity and solidarity (you) and then was expelled by her benchmates.
During the session, only the qualified office was addressed, in which the expulsions of deputies from the vision with values (Viva) and National Unit of Hope (UNE) were reported.
Subsequently, the reading of law initiatives began, but, as the session advanced, the deputies began to withdraw, which made it impossible to continue with the plenary, which had to be raised.
Before that, the president of Congress, Nery Ramos, announced that he will send a new call for Thursday, when some of the ignored points are probably reprogrammed.
Without choice
The Plenary of the Congress did not comply with the work agendas planned for this Tuesday, which included the election of two authorities for the new superintendence of competition, entity that by law must be integrated no later than June 23.
Although the deadline for the appointment is close to winning, the deputies did not go to the session, which prevented the election of a titular director and a substitute.
The Congress Economy Commission proposed as candidates for Javier Enrique Bauer Herbruger, Jorge Alberto Chen Sam, Juan Carlos Rodil Quintana, Jorge Mario González Paz, José Ramiro Martínez Villatoro and Edgar Rolando Yax Tezo.
Analysts warned that it was unlikely that the deputies complied with the agenda, due to the lack of agreements in the plenary, which has been evident during the year. To this are added internal disputes in each of the benches represented in Congress.
