The role of women in the construction of a more equitable future

The invited panelists shared their personal and professional experiences, highlighting the challenges faced and how education, access to resources and equity were essential factors for change. The urgency of improving the conditions in which thousands of women, children and families live, recognizing that a safe and dignified housing environment is key to their development.

As part of this commitment, habitat for humanity Guatemala, non -profit organization that ensures that all people live in decent housing; It promotes the 100,000 floors initiative to play, which seeks to transform the lives of families. Replacing earth floors with concrete not only provides safer and more hygienic housing, but also impacts health, stability and emotional well -being of those who inhabit them in the country.

Earth floors are one of the main causes of respiratory and parasitic diseases in children and represent a constant challenge for women who are responsible for household care. With a concrete floor, exposure to these diseases is reduced, cleaning is facilitated and more worthy conditions are created for game, study and rest. The improvement in home infrastructure is a fundamental step to break the poverty cycle and generate real opportunities for Guatemalan families.

Within the framework of this campaign, on March 8, in commemoration of the International Women’s Day, a Brigade of Women will be held that will work on the construction and replacement of land floors in homes of families in extreme poverty. With this action, the commitment to continue generating significant changes that impact the lives of women, youth and children throughout the country is reinforced.
