Apart from the tender launched for the solar energy project for isolated communities of the National Electrical System network in which it plans to invest Q100 million, the IND contemplates nine projects to expand the electricity transmission network per Q1 thousand 436 million, in addition to participating as an offeror in the Energy Generation Tender PEG 5.
According to the Minister of Energy and Mina, and President of the National Institute of Electrification (INDE), Víctor Hugo Ventura, in 2025, nine projects for the Q1 thousand 436 million transmission network will boost, some of which would carry a process of more than a year.
Among the highest amounts are the beginning of management for the construction of the Petén Itzá electrical substation (230/69 kV), with an estimated investment of Q720 million; In addition, the construction of the Cobán II electrical substation for Q294.9 million; and the tender of 25 power transformers to provide the company for transmission of the IND, by estimated investment of Q280 million in addition to projects to energize substations in several municipalities in the interior of the country.
For rural electrification, it is expected by 2025, 13,872 households connected to the distribution networks, with own resources, and 11,472 homes with resources from the IDB loan.
In addition to the 6 thousand 123 homes with photovoltaic panel systems (solar energy), as part of the first phase of the tender of these systems launched on March 7 in the Guatecompras system.
Generation and transmission tenders
Regarding generation, the Inde participates in the fifth long-term tender Generation Expansion Plan (PEG-5) with the possibility of contracts for contracts for more than 200 megawatts.
The basis for the tender for between 1,400 and 1,550 megawatts, which will make the electricity distributors are planned to launch them after Easter, between April and May, and the contracts must begin to provide in 2030. In this process the novelty will be that the hiring of generation with natural gas is sought, among others, to provide firm energy to the electricity system.
It is also planned to launch the third tender for the expansion plan of the transmission network (PET-3), with at least 14 works to reinforce the south east of the country, said Ventura. In this, Inde will have the opportunity to participate as a transmitting agent.

Complaints
Ventura recalled that the institution, when the new government assumed, decided last year to investigate the different contracts of the previous administration.
Given this, he summarized that he has made several complaints for 24 contracts for Q655 million, in which they found alleged anomalies in their content, compliance or from the process of interest to offer or tender.
These were awarded to 14 companies, with eight contracts made in 2022 by photovoltaic and consulting systems, and 16 2023 contracts that also included photovoltaic systems, expansion and repowering of electrical plants, lines or substations.
To date, the entity refers, that there are disabled contractors and execution of bonds per Q300 million.
In another type of transactions, the INDE official said that they registered Q24 million savings derived from the revision of the billing data of the social rate.
In 2025 they plan to cover Q986 million contribution and subsidies for the social rate.
