The State Building Construction Unit (UCEE) delivered to the Ministry of Health six prefabricated modules installed at the Amatitlán National Hospital, whose facilities suffered Damage structural aggravated by the earthquakes of recent months. The emergency forced the transfer of patients to other care centers.
According to the UCEE, the modules have basic and furniture equipment, such as pediatric beds, transport and exam stretchers, trails, healing cars, rotating banks and chair batteries. In addition, they have air conditioning and seismic resistance.
“The Government prioritizes attention to the National Hospital of Amatitlán, generating decent and adequate spaces that allow the hospital to regain the attention to the population … That is why the decision was made to allocate a total of six modules,” said the director of the UCEE, Flor de María Palencia.
At the time, authorities of the Ministry of Health reported that in these spaces, pediatric and neonatal intensive care could work, as well as areas of scoring, observation and emergencies.
“This agile action not only restores medical services; it restores confidence, relief and guarantees that Amatitlán families and surrounding communities have access to quality care in safe, modern and decent facilities,” said the Minister of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV), Miguel Ángel Díaz, during the delivery of the modules.
The Amatitlán National Hospital was built in phases: the first, in 1870; the second, at the end of 1900, and a more recent one, in 1930.
Julio’s earthquakes caused fissures in walls and finishes, deterioration of the sale, break of several glass and fall of the false sky.
