The Guatemala City lived this Sunday a true sports party with the 2025 edition of the 21K, One of the most important races in Central America. From early hours, thousands of national and international athletes gathered in the capital to tour the main avenues in an environment full of enthusiasm and joy.
Participation was massive: Around 20,000 runners took the exit in different categories, consolidating competition as one of the most anticipated events in the country’s athletic calendar. In addition, there was a historical record of more than 1,000 international competitors, who gave a special character to the day with their presence in the city.
The 21K route showed the diversity of the capital again, with athletes passing through iconic avenues that were filled with color, music and the breath of thousands of people who took to the streets to support the participants. Logistics included hydration points, animation areas and security measures that accompanied the development of the event without setbacks.
In the competitive field, The triumph in the male branch was for the Guatemalan corridor Alberto Gonzálezwho consecrated himself with first place after a demanding and strategic career. The second place was occupied by Mario Pacay, who demonstrated again his record and level in half marathon tests.

Mayor Ricardo Quiñónez highlighted the positive impact of the career in the city, ensuring that 21K represent not only a sports space, but also an opportunity for coexistence, promotion of health and international projection of the capital. “This is an event that unites the Guatemalans and that places the city on the map as a destination of great sporting events,” he said.

Quiñónez also stressed the importance of the international participation record achieved this year, considering that it strengthens the image of Guatemala as a country capable of organizing high -level competitions.
