This second Sunday of Lent, San Lucas tells a significant episode of Jesus, explains Héctor López Alvarado in Vatican News and notes:
“This story offers us a wonderful vision of the glowing face of Christ, a glory that manifests its divinity and guides us in our way to Easter.”
The Transfiguration is an event of prayer in which Jesus shows his being with the Father (Cf. Jn 10,30). And in this dialogue, during which “his garments became white as light,” Jesus reveals himself as the light of the world (Jn 12,46), notes Vatican News in a note about the liturgical parties.
The reflection of the second Sunday of Lent
Aciprensa notes the reflection of the Pope Francis, That he points out as “discordant” the dream of the three disciples while Jesus prayed and remembers that later, in Gethsemaní, the same would happen during the anguishing prayer of Jesus, when he had also asked them to ensure (Matthew 14, 37-41).
“The strong time of the Lent It is an opportunity in this regard. It is a period in which God wants to wake up from the inner lethargy, of this drowsiness that does not let the spirit express himself, “said Pope Francis in the Angelus of March 13, 2022, according to Aciprensa.
Reading of the second Sunday of Lent: Gospel according to Saint Luke 9, 28b-36
At that time, Jesus took Peter, Juan and Santiago and went up to the top of the mountain to pray. And, while praying, the appearance of his face changed and his dresses shone from glow.
Suddenly, two men talked to him: they were Moses and Elijah, who, appearing with glory, spoke of his exodus, that he was going to consummate in Jerusalem.
Pedro and his classmates fell sleepy, but they spoiled and saw their glory and the two men who were with him.
While these moved away from him, Peter told Jesus:
«Teacher, how good we are here! We will make three stores: one for you, another for Moses and another for Elijah ».
I didn’t know what he said.
I was still saying this, when a cloud arrived that covered them with its shadow. They were filled with fear when entering the cloud.
And a voice from the cloud said:
“This is my son, the chosen one, listen to him.”
After hearing his voice, Jesus alone found himself. They kept silent and, in those days, they didn’t tell anyone anything they had seen.
