Guatemalan specialty coffee is once again a cause for celebration, this time in The North, Central America and The Caribbean’s 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026a ranking that qualifies the best of the coffee experience in the region. Guatemala was one of the countries that stood out the most.

After positioning four specialty coffee shops in The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shopsheld last February, Guatemala consolidated itself as one of the countries in the region with the greatest versatility of coffee shops, managing to position 13 in the 2026 edition.

Along with the message “We have traveled to the most remote places on the planet to bring you an exclusive list of the best coffee shops in this region,” the event organizers highlighted that the selection within the regional ranking was based on various criteria of excellence.

It is known that this ranking not only rates the flavor of the specialty coffee and the food that accompanies it, but also the complete experience, such as service and space, with the aim of recognizing excellence in the coffee experience.

Last February, Andrea Vergara, Marketing and Promotion Coordinator of Anacafé, explained in Prensa Libre Radio that the evaluation of this contest is carried out under international criteria, where the quality of the coffee, the service, the knowledge of the baristas, the atmosphere of the premises, the customer’s comfort and the innovation within the coffee shop.

In this edition, Guatemala had representation of various specialty coffee shops. The list left Onyx Coffea Lab, located in Arkansas, as the top winner, which obtained first place worldwide.

In the Central American regionEl Salvador consolidated itself as a leader with the Alquimia Coffee cafeteria, located in San Salvador, which obtained third place worldwide in the 2026 edition.

The awards ceremony was held at World of Coffee, in San Diego, and gave way to the first list of the 100 best coffee shops in North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Within the ranking The four coffee shops that represented the country in the world edition remained, which at that time were in the positions: El Injerto (25), Atte Coffee (52), Café de Reyes (76) and Coffea (82).

Nine coffee shops that have stood out for their talent in specialty coffee were added to the regional ranking. This is the list from Guatemala:
