The Third Court of Criminal Sentencing will resolve on April 29 the extradition request of Carlos Obebiel Morales Guerra, wanted for drug trafficking in the United States, after he refused to be handed over to the justice of that country, official sources reported this Monday, April 13.
Carlos Obebiel Morales Guerra, brother of the mayor of Dolores, Petén, appeared this Monday before the Third Criminal Sentencing Court to hear the extradition request against him to the United States, on charges of drug trafficking.
After hearing the reasons for extradition, Morales Guerra refused to be extradited. Given this situation, the court indicated that it will analyze the request made by the US justice system and that on April 29 it will resolve the request.
Carlos Obebiel Morales Guerra was captured along with his brothers Héctor Rubén and Ronald Alexys on February 20, in the municipality of Dolores, Petén. According to the Public Ministry, they are required by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The authorities indicated that they would be part of a structure dedicated to drug trafficking that would have operated in the country from 2006 to May 2024.
