The White House fired three officials of the National Security Council (NSC, in English), Office of Military and Foreign Affairs of the White House that is at the origin of the case called Signalgatein which members of the cabinet shared information about an offensive in Yemen through a messaging application, according to local media.
As detailed by the CNN chain, citing anonymous sources close to the matter, the three dismissed workers are Brian Walsh, intelligence director; Thomas Boodry, senior director of Legislative Affairs; and David Feith, senior director who supervises national technology and security.
The NSC is a body dependent on the US presidential office that fulfills an advice function and is responsible for the strategic coordination of foreign policy and national security issues. At the head of this office is the National Security Minister, a position for which Donald Trump designated, after his electoral victory, to the ex -military and ex -congressman by Florida Mike Waltz.
The three cessations occurred after the shameful case Signalgatewhose public exhibition was Waltz’s responsibility, since it was he who invited, apparently, the chief editor of the magazine The AtlanticJeffrey Goldberg, to a chat room created by his deputy advisor, Alex Wong.
In that chat room, created in the Signal application, Goldberg went unnoticed for four days, a period in which Trump cabinet members shared sensitive information about an attack in Yemen.
As Goldberg published, in the chat the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, ended up revealing delicate information, including objectives, military assets deployed and, two hours in advance, the schedule of the attack against Hutíes rebels in Yemen.
After knowing the episode, considered the most embarrassing for Trump’s second government to date, Waltz himself assumed responsibility for having invited Goldberg, although the president said he would keep him in his position.
According to CNN and other media that reported the dismissals, the decision to execute the three cessations in the NSC would have been taken after Trump met with the extreme right activist Laura Loura Loomer.
Loomer, known for promoting conspiracy theories about the attacks of September 11, 2001 and having some influence on the US president, would have urged the president to get rid of several members of the NSC following Signalgate.
As CNN also said, the main national security advisor, Alex Wong, who created the chat, could be fired today, since the activist would have directly indicated it.
Although neither the White House nor the media have confirmed that there is a direct relationship between layoffs and filtration, Axiosone of the portals that confirmed the news, indicated that the now former employees of the NSC had been labeled as Anti-Neocon (Abbreviation in English of Neoconservatives).
