On Sunday, April 19, four men drank alcoholic beverages in front of a store located on 0 Avenue and 4 Street, La Cruz neighborhood, in Amatitlán.
At 2:30 p.m., two men on a motorcycle arrived at the scene and shot at them. Three died at the scene and one more was transferred to the emergency room at the Amatitlán Hospital.
The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that the first investigations indicate that the deceased were allegedly engaged in theft and theft of motorcycles.
According to the police report, two men dressed in black approached the victims and, without saying a word, shot them.
The victims were identified as Edwin Pérez Escobar, 45 years old; Justo Mejía Raymundo, 30, and Héctor Eduardo Chávez Morataya, 27. The injured person is Nery Raúl Rodríguez, 46, who has a wound on his face.
At the scene, authorities located at least 12 pieces of evidence, including firearm casings, a projectile, blood samples and a cell phone.
“We are working on collecting evidence and interviews to establish the possible cause of the incident,” indicated the PNC.
The police report details that they do not rule out that the attack is linked to a settling of scores.
