The National Civil Police (PNC) announced that the escape of a prisoner from the Jalapa Preventive Center for Men was prevented.
The inmate was identified as Daniel Fernando Vanelli Escalona, 28 years old, of Venezuelan origin, who was surprised when trying to escape from the prison.
According to the official report, the man climbed to the roof of a building to evade the agents, but fell during the attempt and suffered injuries to both legs.
“The prisoner tried to escape by climbing to the roof of the preventive center; however, he lost his balance and fell, which allowed him to be quickly neutralized by security personnel,” commented Jorge Aguilar, PNC spokesperson.
Due to his injuries, he was taken to a care center under police custody, where he remains while receiving medical attention.
“The inmate is in custody in a care center and, once he is discharged, he will be returned to the preventive center to continue serving his sentence,” explained the spokesperson.
Vanelli Escalona has been in prison for the crime of illegally carrying a charmed or handmade weapon since his capture on April 3, in the La Esperanza neighborhood, Jalapa.
