After the failed attack last Saturday at the Correspondents’ Dinnerin which US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania and his cabinet, present at the event, had to be evacuated, the president again insisted on the court that paralyzed the construction of his White House Ballroom to resume the work.
“What happened last night is exactly why our great military, Secret Service and law enforcement have been demanding that a large, secure ballroom be built on the grounds of the White House,” Trump said in a message published on Truth Social, in which he also justified the need for a high-security space within the perimeter of the presidential residence.
This room is one of the president’s most desired projects, which, according to Infobae, he intends to inaugurate before the end of his second term and could cost between US$170 million and US$350 million.
Trump also described the lawsuit against the ballroom as “ridiculous,” since it was “filed by a woman who was walking her dog and who has no standing,” and requested that it be dismissed immediately, in reference to the judicial process that led federal judge Richard Leon to suspend the works due to lack of congressional approval.
According to the president, this room, of approximately 8 thousand square meters, is a “top military secret” structure that has the highest levels of security and lacks upper rooms through which “unauthorized people can sneak in.”
In the message, Trump reiterated that the attempted attack “would never have happened with the top-secret military ballroom currently being built in the White House.”
