Given the announcement of protests and blockades by military veterans, the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) warned about possible complications in mobility on different routes in the country and asked travelers to anticipate their departure and arrive in time at La Aurora International Airport.
The demonstrations are scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, and would extend indefinitely, which could affect access to the air terminal, as well as traffic on several main roads.
Pablo Castillo, spokesperson for the DGAC, explained that those who are scheduled to travel to or from Guatemala should take precautions, because the mobilizations could make access to the airport difficult. He also recommended maintaining constant communication with the airlines to find out about any changes in itineraries.
In addition, the authorities urged the population to obtain information from official sources and follow the recommendations to avoid risks during their transfers.
Other organized sectors, mainly linked to the transfer of products and merchandise, warned that the blockades could impact logistics and supply, due to the interruption in strategic routes.
