He Bank of Guatemala (Banguat) announced the issuance of its first series of commemorative coins 2026a collection dedicated to five outstanding artists linked to the Guatemala City Civic Center.

The series pays tribute to:

  • Guillermo Grajeda Mena: Presents his effigy next to the stylized indigenous figure of his work The Conquesthighlighting his legacy in the mural art of the Civic Center.
  • Roberto González Goyri: Includes his portrait and a fragment of the mural The Handwhich symbolizes the achievements of the Mayan culture in the IGSS building.
  • Carlos Merida: Shows his effigy and a representation of his work Social Securityreflecting its influence on modern Guatemalan art.
  • Efraín Recinos: It integrates his portrait and a detail of the National Mortgage Credit mural, highlighting his artistic and architectural contribution.
  • Dagoberto Vásquez Castañeda: Presents his effigy next to the work rain collectorfrom the mural of the Bank of Guatemala, a symbol of its sculptural legacy.
