The Colombian singer Shakira will have special guests at the free megaconcert that will be offered in Copacabana this Saturday, May 2, to the brothers Caetano Veloso and María Bethânia, two of the most representative voices of Brazilian popular music.
The surprise was revealed during the artist’s rehearsal on Friday night in front of thousands of fans who gathered around the stage to see a preview of the pop diva’s show.
With Caetano they will perform “O Leãozinho”, one of the Brazilian singer-songwriter’s most famous songs, and with María Bethânia they will sing “O que é, o que é”, by Gonzaguinha, a song that exalts life and one of the most emblematic classics of the Brazilian repertoire.
Caetano, 83-year-old guitarist and singer-songwriter, and María Bethânia, 79-year-old singer, guitarist and composer, apparently will not be the only guests of the Colombian, since Anitta’s possible appearance is gaining more and more strength.
Both artists recently released the song “Choka Choka.” Anitta has confirmed that she was invited to go on stage with the Colombian, and a video in which she rehearses the song is circulating on social networks.
Ivete Sangalo is also emerging as another of Shakira’s possible guests in Rio, after the Brazilian revived speculation by sharing a video on social media to welcome the Colombian artist.
Shakira will offer this Saturday in Rio what is expected to be the biggest presentation of her career, in which she will show the world the power, joy and rhythm of Latin culture.
For the show, which will close its “Women No Longer Cry” world tour, Rio de Janeiro authorities expect around two million spectators, but the expectation is that it will even surpass Lady Gaga’s audience last year (2.1 million).
Known internationally for hits like “Hips don’t lie”, “Waka Waka”, “Pies descalzos” and “Chantaje”, Shakira keeps a space in her heart reserved for the South American country, one of the first that opened its doors to her in her musical beginnings.
