On April 28, the fuel subsidy came into force in Guatemala to support the final consumer with Q8 and Q5 per gallon of diesel and gasoline; However, the update on May 5 reveals an increase in the price per gallon.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) shared the new table of reference prices for diesel and gasoline, valid from May 5 to 11.
According to the MEM, there is a reference range for the variation in prices to the final consumer.
The subsidy was approved by Congress and sanctioned by President Bennardo Arévalo, with the intention of minimizing the impact of high fuel prices, derived from the war conflict in the Middle East.
According to the calculation mechanism, the terminal sales reference price (Ex-Rack) refers to the cost of sales in the storage terminal, which includes temporary social support and will serve as a reference for supervision, transparency and verification in the marketing of diesel and gasoline.
