José Carmelo Sinay, alias “El Inquieto”, a member of the Barrio 18 gang, appeared this Thursday, May 7, by videoconference at the first statement hearing.
The judge decided to link the gang member to criminal proceedings for evasion, after having escaped from the Fraijanes 2 prison last October.
When they asked him if he would testify in the trial, “El Inquieto” made signs and refused to do so.
According to the Public Ministry, on the day the gang member was captured, three agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) were injured.
Now, the investigating entity has a period of three months to expand the investigations and the intermediate stage hearing has been scheduled for next August 24.
José Carmelo Sinay was recaptured on March 13 in San Juan Ostuncalco, Quetzaltenango.
