The Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde assured this Thursday that at no time did he hit his teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni, after the argument between the two after training, and apologized for the moment that Real Madrid is going through.
“At no time did my partner hit me, nor did I hit him. I understand that for many it is easier to believe that there was a fight, but that did not happen,” Valverde said in a statement published on his social networks.
The player was also affected by what happened. “I’m really sorry, because this situation hurts me. “Madrid is one of the most important things in my life and I cannot be indifferent.” he added.
Valverde explained that the incident began on Wednesday after a play in training, amid the physical and emotional exhaustion typical of the end of the season. “These are things that can happen and are normally resolved between us, without becoming public,” he indicated.
However, he regretted that the issue became media. “Someone was quick to spread the story, and in a season without titles everything is magnified,” he said.
The Uruguayan also revealed that this Thursday he had a disagreement again with Tchouaméni and that, during the argument, he accidentally hit a table, causing a cut on his forehead that required medical attention.
“My anger and frustration over the situation pushed me to the limit of arguing with a colleague. It was an accumulation of things that ended in a senseless incident,” he explained.
In addition, he regretted the impact on his image. “This has left room for an accident to be invented and exaggerated,” he said, although he made it clear that any difference is left aside within the field. “If I have to defend him, I will be the first to do so,” he assured.
Valverde also explained that he had preferred to remain silent after the team’s elimination from the Champions League. “We have wasted another year and I felt I had to respond on the court, not on social media,” he said.
Finally, he regretted not being able to play the next game due to medical advice. “I always give everything until the end, and it hurts me not to be able to be there,” he concluded.
The player made himself available to the club and his teammates to collaborate with any decision made after what happened.
