The Production House announced the national premiere of the fifth film by Guatemalan director Jayro Bustamante, fire mountain rangean activity that will take place in Sololá.
Nationally and internationally recognized for productions such as Ixcanul (2015), Tremors (2019), The Llorona (2019) and Rita (2024), Jayro Bustamante brings his most recent production to Guatemala, after touring various film festivals, in which he sought to merge science with art.
fire mountain range delves into the reality of the natural phenomena that Guatemala has faced on various occasions. According to the synopsis, the production addresses the moment in which a new volcano forms within the mountain range of fire, an emergence that generates two perspectives in society.
For residents near the area, this phenomenon represents a threat, since they must leave their homes to protect themselves; while, for others, it becomes a business opportunity.
María Mercedes Coroy returns to work with the director after successes such as Ixcanul and The Lloronabut this time she plays a volcanologist dedicated to protecting communities and fighting corruption.
The film remembers the catastrophe of 2018, when the Fuego volcano released pyroclastic flows that left hundreds of deaths and thousands of victims. The production, which premiered at a festival in Argentina, will arrive in the country and will have its premiere venue in Santiago Atitlán.
