The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that this Monday, May 11, it carried out an operation coordinated by the Homicide Section of the Specialized Directorate of Criminal Investigation and prosecutors from the Public Ministry.
He added that the procedure was carried out on 17th Avenue and 8th Street in Zone 6 of the capital.
According to the PNC, they captured Ángel “N”, 36 years old, who is a specialist second sergeant in the Guatemalan Army.
Also arrested were Brayan “N”, 24, and Maynor “N”, 38, who is also a specialist second sergeant.
The PNC indicated that those captured are accused of murder and attempted murder. They have been required since May 7 by the Seventh Pluripersonal Court of First Instance for Criminal, Narcoactivity and Crimes against the Environment of Guatemala.
The institution stated that investigators seized four firearms of different brands, nine hoppers and 135 9-millimeter caliber ammunition.
According to PNC investigations, those now captured would have participated in an armed attack that occurred on April 28, 2025 on 17th Avenue and 12th Street in Zone 6.
The PNC investigation indicates that, on that occasion, the suspects had consumed alcoholic beverages and, due to disagreements, killed David Fabián Marcos Orozco, 22 years old. In addition, three people were injured and taken to a national hospital.
The Army confirmed that two of those captured appear as active in that institution. He added that he respects the principle of presumption of innocence and will analyze what administrative processes he can follow.
