Court orders tour of sites linked to the Litzy Cordón case in Zacapa

This Tuesday, May 13, the High Risk Court B ordered a tour of different places related to the investigation into the death of Litzy Cordón, which occurred in 2020 in Zacapa, during the hearing in which Kevin Rivas Cordón testified as a defendant in the case and pointed out that a cousin was responsible for the crime..

The procedure was scheduled for May 19 and will have support from the security forces, according to the Court’s ruling.

Among the points that will be visited is the house where the victim spent the night, located in the village of Barranca Seca, Teculután, Zacapa.

Kevin Rivas Cordón faces trial as allegedly responsible for the death of Litzy Cordón, who was his cousin.

During the hearing this Tuesday, May 13, Rivas Cordón gave a statement before the High Risk Court B and assured that he did not participate in the crime. According to his version, his cousin Andy Cordón confessed to having been involved in the kidnapping and murder of the young woman.

The accused reported that on October 5, 2020, he received Q15,000 from a woman identified only as Fabiola, in the village of Los Palmares, Teculután, Zacapa, and later returned to his home, where he found Andy Cordón waiting for him.

According to him, his cousin later insisted that he change his cell phone urgently.

Rivas Cordón stated that the next day they traveled to the capital with his partner to attend a business meeting and buy a cell phone. He indicated that, while they were at a fast food restaurant, he confronted Andy Cordón for insisting on changing the device.

According to the defendant’s story, at that time his cousin confessed to him that he had participated in the kidnapping and murder of Litzy Cordón and that they had used Kevin’s phone to place the victim’s chip.

“I’m going to be honest with you, the phone that you left in the car was the one we used to extract Litzy’s chip and put it in your phone,” Rivas Cordón declared before the Court.

The accused also indicated that on October 6, 2020, he attended Litzy Cordón’s wake and spoke with his brother Cristian about what, he claimed, Andy Cordón had confessed to him.
