The politician Roberto Arzú stated this Monday, May 18, in a press conference, that he appeared before the Public Ministry (MP) to file a criminal complaint against the former attorney general María Consuelo Porras Argueta.
According to Arzú, he also denounced current and former officials, including José Rafael Curruchiche Cacul, Cinthia Edelmira Monterroso Gómez, Ángel Arnoldo Pineda Ávila, Dimas Jiménez y Jiménez, Luis Miguel Martínez Morales and Alejandro Giammattei Falla.
He assured that the complaints are for the alleged crimes of abuse of authority, breach of duties, influence peddling, obstruction of criminal action, denial of justice and personal concealment.
He added that he will file more complaints and that, according to him, there is evidence against the “corrupt regime, impunity and selective persecution of innocent people” that operated for eight years in the MP.
According to Arzú, there was impunity towards corrupt people and “protection of the corrupt pact system.”
He assured that with the complaints he seeks to demonstrate a structure that “illegally and unjustly dismissed hundreds of heroic prosecutors who did not want to lend themselves to that corrupt regime, that tyrannical regime of impunity and persecution.”
“Here they set up a structure for eight years where they have made overpriced purchases, where they have made hit-and-run purchases, where contracts have been awarded to people close to these characters. All with evidence,” said Arzú.
