The masterpiece of Gabriel García Márquez, One hundred years of lonelinessnot only marked literature, but also conquered Netflix through the series that delved into the development of life in Macondo. The first season took viewers to the construction of a utopia that will have weight in later generations, while the second is yet to come.

The plot leads us to focus on the history of the Buendía family and their destiny forged in the town of Macondo, where various generations of that lineage will face impossible loves, bloody wars and the threat of an absurd and tragic curse that will lead them to a hundred years of loneliness.

Among the multitude of characters that Gabriel García Márquez introduced in his work, Netflix brought the story to the screen by presenting a Macondo that combines the humanity and realism of the novel. In this second season, the production delves into the new generations of the Buendía family and the transformation of the town.

According to Netflix, in this second season we will see how progress will bring decadence to the family that founded Macondo, which would finally lead to the fulfillment of the curse that condemns it.

The second season will arrive with seven episodes on August 5, and the plot will take viewers to delve deeper into the history of the Buendía family. The end of the adaptation will arrive on August 26 under the title One hundred years of loneliness.

The adaptation, directed by Laura Mora, takes the audience to the original Colombia of Gabriel García Márquez, where this production was filmed. Mora highlighted to Netflix that each episode of this second part feels like a movie, since they sought to take the narrative to another level.

From aesthetics, sound and music, Mora highlighted that they sought to make this sequel a more cinematic production.

Francisco Ramos, Vice President of Content for Latin America at Netflix, said that during filming they realized that, as they moved towards the grand finale, they could not complete the story with a normal episode, but rather a grand finale was required that adequately represented the outcome of the work, so they made a special chapter in a feature-length version.
