Mario Escobar will be the central referee of the second leg final between Xelajú MC and Municipalscheduled for this Saturday, May 23, at 8 p.m. (8 p.m.) at the Mario Camposeco stadium in Quetzaltenango.
The designation was confirmed by the National Soccer Federation of Guatemala for the commitment that will define the champion of the 2026 Clausura Tournament.
Escobar, one of the Guatemalan referees with the most international experience, will be in charge of a highly demanding meeting, marked by the advantage obtained by Municipal in the first leg.
The scarlet team won 4-1 at the Manuel Felipe Carrera stadium and will arrive in Quetzaltenango with the possibility of winning the 33rd title in its history.
For its part, Xelajú MC will seek to take advantage of the home field and the support of its fans to try to reverse the series and reach the eighth moon in its record.
Escobar will be assisted by Luis Ventura and Juan Daniel Tipaz, while the fourth referee will be Armando Reyna.
The match will be played in a Mario Camposeco stadium that is expected to be sold out, in a final that will keep the attention of Guatemalan soccer.
Mario Escobar will be accompanied by his respective referee quartet, in charge of directing one of the most important commitments of the season.
