The 2026 Clausura Tournament will have a new monarch. Municipal and Xelajú MC will compete this Saturday, at the Mario Camposeco stadium, in the final that will define the first team to lift the new Copa Bienestar.
The cup was officially presented by the National League and its design was by José Juan Marmolejo, a Mexican sculptor recognized for creating trophies for the Liga MX and other competitions in the region.
The piece rests on a marble base with the shields of the 12 clubs of the top category. In addition, it was made of brass, with silver components and a 21-karat gold laminate.
Among its main details, a golden quetzal stands out at the top, as a symbol of freedom, pride and greatness. It also incorporates a circular figure that represents the ball and the official isotype of the National League.
Marmolejo explained that the manufacturing and polishing process took several months due to the complexity of the piece. “It is a long-awaited piece for the Guatemalan people. We had to give them a spectacular piece of art,” he said.
During the presentation, the champion medal was also shown, which was symbolically presented to sports journalist Juan Meoño, in recognition of his more than 40 years of experience in the media.
As part of the commemoration of Bantrab’s 60 years, the Clausura 2026 champion will keep the original trophy permanently.
Starting in the next tournaments, the champion club will raise the original cup during the awards ceremony and will later receive an official replica for its display cases.
