The general cemetery of the capital zone no longer has the capacity to continue receiving inhumations, according to the administration of the place.

The general cemetery of the capital zone is the largest in the country, covers 26 apples and houses the remains of about 50,000 people. However, it has run out of space for new burials.
The authorities announced that, as of April 21, the burials will be transferred to the La Verbena cemetery, located in zone 7 capital, while exhumations are made ex officio in order to release space.
It is expected that, within six to eight months, the service can be resumed in the General Cemetery, where they enter between 540 and 550 remains monthly.
According to the authorities, people who have private niches may continue to carry out inhumations. However, those who have made graves in galleries or public sectors and are not up to date with payments must look for other alternatives.
It is estimated that around 5,000 niches will be released, although many of the debtors are probable to update the payments.
