IGSS reveals details about operations carried out in a hospital in zone 6

He Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS)) reported that this Thursday, May 21, at the facilities of the Juan José Arévalo Bermejo General Hospital, in zone 6 of the capital, there were a series of raids.

He explained that the authorities’ actions derived from a complaint filed by the hospital administration, after detecting a discrepancy in records during the counting and comparison of consolidated items related to controlled medications.

He added that, immediately, the corresponding institutional protocols were activated, which included the requirement of an internal audit and the administrative follow-up necessary to determine the facts and establish responsibilities in accordance with the law.

According to the IGSS, the complaint was filed with the Public Ministry on April 23, from which time it has provided collaboration in the ongoing proceedings and investigations, including in-person actions carried out by the competent authorities.

He affirmed that he maintains a policy of zero tolerance for any event that may affect the trust of the beneficiaries and the Guatemalan population.

He indicated that he acts responsibly to strengthen control mechanisms and guarantee the appropriate use of institutional resources.

He announced that he will report in a timely manner on the corresponding progress, always in accordance with due process and the interest of the Guatemalan population.
