Communications confirms the date of José Manuel “Moyo” Contreras’ farewell match

The Communications Club officially confirmed the date of the farewell match of José Manuel “Moyo” Contreras, one of the most representative soccer players in the history of the cream institution and Guatemalan soccer.

The experienced midfielder announced, just a month ago, his retirement from professional football, putting an end to a career of more than 20 years, in which he left his mark in national football and especially in the creams.

Contreras arrived at Communications in 2006 and, after years at the institution, he became a reference for the white team, standing out for his leadership, football quality and love for the cream jersey. Throughout his career with the club he won 12 titles, including the historic six-time championship and the Concacaf League, establishing himself as one of the fans’ great idols.

In addition to his time in the creams, “Moyo” also played in Antigua GFC, Xelajú MC, Universidad de Concepción, Chile; CA Fénix, from Uruguay, and Arsenal, from Argentina.

Through its social networks, Comunicaciones announced the event with the following message: “It’s not goodbye, it’s thank you forever. Join us on an unforgettable night to pay tribute to a cream legend.”

The farewell match will be played on Friday, July 17 at 8 p.m. at the Cementos Progreso Stadium, where a total party is expected. The cream fans are already preparing to pay tribute to one of their greatest idols in a night that promises to be emotional and unforgettable.

So far, the rival for this match has not been confirmed, but it is expected that in the coming days the club will provide more details about this activity.

Without a doubt, it will be a special occasion to say goodbye to a player who marked an era and left an indelible legacy in Guatemalan soccer.
