After decades of failed attempts to bring Masters of the Universe (Masters of the Universe) to the cinema, the film will finally be released in Latin America this Thursday, June 4, 2026, one day before its premiere in the United States.
Directed by Travis Knight and distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, production brings back He-Man to the big screen, where he will have to face the evil Skeleton to save your planet.
“The film tells the story of a ten-year-old boy, Prince Adam, who crashed on Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magic sword, the only link to his home in Eternia. After locating it almost two decades later, Prince Adam is transported back into space to defend his home planet from Skeletor’s evil forces.. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first have to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe,” the synopsis indicates.
The cast is headed by British actor Nicholas Galitzine, who will play the prince adamwhile Jared Leto will play Skeletor. They are joined by Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as the Enchantress and Kristen Wiig as Roboto.
Masters of the Universe was born in 1982 as a line of mattel toys. In 1983 the animated series debuted He-Man and the Masters of the Universefrom Filmation, and in 1987 it was made into a film, starring Dolph Lundgren, but it failed at the box office.
The new production arrives almost four decades later and, after the world premiere held on June 1, 2026 at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, it has received positive reactions.
“Galitzine brings a sweetness to Adam Glenn that makes his version of He-Man memorable, as well as a fascinating insight into the masculinity”wrote one critic on social media, according to a publication by The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will arrive in Guatemala with the name Masters of the Universe. Its premiere was scheduled for June 5, 2026, as in the United States; However, it was recently announced that it will be available in Latin American theaters starting Thursday, June 4.
