This June 4, the Catholic archbishop of Washington dismissed a well-known priest who served as an exorcist due to a post on social media in which he suggested that UFOs are the work of the devil.
Archbishop Robert McElroy said last Wednesday that the statements of exorcist Stephen Rossetti “they seriously undermine the Church’s very precise teaching on the devil, demons and exorcism”.
Rossetti’s social media post said that “many, if not most” of the UFOs could correspond to demonic actions that manifest in the physical world.
“As an exorcist, I wanted to warn about that danger. And demons like to hide… They don’t want us to know what they are doing because they are more effective whenwhen we don’t realize“said the exorcist.
The priest’s statements provoked a negative reaction from the archbishop, who decided to immediately remove him from office and cut institutional ties with the organization he headed.
Rossetti was one of the most visible exorcists in the archdiocese and also directed the San Miguel Center for Spiritual Renewal, an entity specialized in cases related to supposed disturbances of malignant origin.
Upon receiving the news, Rossetti expressed his “sadness” and apologized for “any way in which he would not have been faithful to the teachings of the Church”.
