Seven days before the official whistle that will kick off the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the sports entity announced a surprise for the opening ceremony: Shakira and Burna Boy will present the official antheml of this edition in Mexico City on June 11.
The presentation, which will open the most important sporting event in the world and will bring together millions of people at the official venues of the 2026 edition, will have Shakira and Burna Boy as special guests, who will perform the song “Dai Dai.”
FIFA reinforced the alignment of the opening ceremonywhich had already been announced and will include artists such as Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean and J Balvin, among others, in Mexico.
“Dai Dai” will have an exclusive premiere during the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which, according to FIFA, will serve as a prelude to an unforgettable tournament.
The Mexico City Stadium will be the stage where Shakira and Nigerian singer Burna Boy will perform. According to a FIFA statement, the opening show will begin an hour and a half before the match scheduled for 1:00 p.m. between the Mexican and South African teams.
As announced on May 8, artists such as Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla are also part of the group of artists responsible for the opening of the World Cup in Mexico and will perform songs from the official album of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The event, which will be completely live, will include a performance by Shakira and Burna Boy at 11:30 a.m. on June 11. Likewise, it is known that the United States and Canada will also have their own opening ceremonies.
The second performance will take place in Canada on June 12, where artists such as Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream and William Prince will perform before the confrontation between Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minutes later, that same June 12, the United States will celebrate its inauguration in Los Angeles, where artists of the caliber of Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Lisa, Rema and Tyla will give way to the confrontation between the United States and Paraguay.
