President Donald Trump said on June 10 that he managed to remove the Strait of Hormuz more than 100 million barrels of crude oil through what he called a “secret mission”which he ordered in May.
Through a message on his Truth Social network, Trump stated that he managed to get more than 100 million barrels that were blocked in the Persian Gulf due to to the closure of the strait since the war with Iran began on February 28.
“Last month, I ordered our magnificent U.S. Armed Forces to conduct a secret mission to support tankers and other commercial vessels as they transit the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump said.
He added: “Today I am pleased to announce that this initiative has allowed more than 100 million barrels of oil cross the strait and reach the open market.
Trump also said that more than 200 commercial vessels have “sailed safely through the strait.”
“This effort, which has been a resounding success, is possible because “The United States of America controls the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump said.
However, the president did not give more details about the US operation to ensure the passage of ships by sea.
The closure of the strait, through which an important part of the hydrocarbons exported worldwide passes, has increased crude oil prices by 35% since March.
Although the cost of reference barrels has remained relatively stable since then, due to the negotiations between Iran and the US to try to end the conflict.
