«It’s been a week of non-stop rehearsal for us, we’re ready! “I can’t wait to see you all tomorrow at the @fifaworldcup opening ceremony,” the artist wrote in a message on her social networks.
The publication was made less than 24 hours before the start of the tournament, whose opening ceremony will take place at the Mexico City Stadium, known as Estadio Azteca, in the Mexican capital, and will mark the start of the World Cup organized jointly by Mexico, the United States and Canada.
The text was accompanied by some photographs in which the singer can be seen wearing black clothing, dark glasses and accompanied by dancers.
In the same publication, the Colombian shared a video showing her arrival at the stadium, as well as her dance rehearsals.
FIFA previously confirmed that Shakira will participate together with the Nigerian singer Burna Boy in the opening of the championship, where both will perform “Dai Dai”, one of the official songs of the 2026 World Cup.
The Colombian, one of the artists most associated with the World Cups after the global success of “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”, in South Africa 2010, and “La La La”, in Brazil 2014, will headline a poster that also includes Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, Danny Ocean and Tyla.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin before the opening match between Mexico and South Africa, in a historic tournament that will have 48 participating teams for the first time and will be played from June 11 to July 19.
The Colombian will also be one of the main artists of the first halftime show in the history of a World Cup final, on July 19 at the MetLife Arena, along with Madonna and the South Korean group BTS, a type of concert that until now was reserved for the Super Bowl.
