This Friday, June 12, Paraguayan midfielder Damián Bobadilla became the scorer of the first own goal of the 2026 World Cup by sending the ball into his own goal in the 7th minute of the match between the United States and Paraguay, played at the Los Angeles Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The score allowed the American team to take a 1-0 lead in the Group D match.
The own goal by Bobadilla, a player from São Paulo in Brazil, also represents the fastest goal recorded in the first four games played in the World Cup.
The United States and Paraguay star in the first match of the tournament held on American soil.
With this match, the three co-host countries—Mexico, the United States and Canada—have already begun their participation in the 2026 World Cup.
