A multiple collision was registered this Saturday in the kilometer 45 of the Inter-American routewhere two extra-urban buses and six light vehicles were involved in an accident that left more than 25 people injured and the blocked passage to the West of the country.

According to the Departmental Municipal Firefightersone of the buses covered the route from the capital city to Quichewhile the other was heading towards Tecpán Guatemala, Chimaltenango. They were also involved in the accident six private vehicles.

Cecilio Chacaj, spokesperson for the Departmental Municipal Firefighters, reported that units from Sumpango, Santo Domingo Xenacoj, San Bartolomé Milpas Altas and El Tejar, among other stations, were mobilized.

First responders treated and stabilized more than 25 people on the spot. Besides, six patients were transferred by Departmental Municipal Firefighters to the National Hospital of Chimaltenango, among them a person in delicate condition who was rescued with hydraulic equipment known as jaw of life and a pregnant woman.

Volunteer firefighters also transport injured people
